Alltrack Rail is offering a fleet of 13 EL Class mainline diesel-electric locomotives, comprising 10 operational locomotives and 3 additional units requiring rebuilding or suitable for use as parts donors.

Built by A Goninan & Co, Broadmeadow to the GE CM30-8 design, the EL Class locomotives are powered by GE 7FDL-12 turbocharged V12 diesel engines and use conventional DC traction. The fleet has a Co-Co wheel arrangement, six GE 761-ANR1 traction motors and 1,435 mm standard gauge.

Key specifications include 2460 kW / 3300 hp gross power, 2380 kW / 3192 hp traction power, 232 kN continuous tractive effort, a maximum rated speed of 115 km/h, 114-tonne locomotive weight, 7500-litre fuel capacity and 20.50-metre length over couplers. Braking is by air, independent air and dynamic braking.

The three rebuild/parts units may provide class-specific components and equipment, including engine components, traction motors, bogies and wheelsets, electrical and control equipment, braking components, auxiliary equipment, cooling-system components, body and cab components and other fittings.
